Who We Are

The Humans

BECKY

I’ll keep this short because let’s be real, you want to hear all about the dog! I have a MSc in Marine Conservation and am passionate about making the great outdoors and science accessible to all. I would love to one day find a job that is accessible to a spoonie like me and helps marry environmental conservation and education together! My specialisms are dwarf seagrass, loggerhead turtles and rocky shores.

JACK

The legend behind making dreams a reality, Jack is a data analyst and maps out our adventures and big plans with the occasional spreadsheet. He is a secret nature nerd, blonde giant and is very goal orientated, hence the large collection of alternative Rubik’s cubes. He’ll dip in occasionally to share how you can get in touch with nature and involved with conservation, especially if it isn’t in your background! He first got into conservation in 2017, which was the start of 3 seasons of loggerhead turtle conservation!

Both of us dream of living off grid, being self-sustainable from the food and materials we grow (and from small, local businesses of course).

The Dog

Winnie found us when we were working in Kefalonia, Greece when she was about 8 weeks old in 2017. It is most likely that she wandered off, or had been abandoned, from a local farm and had travelled across the mountainous lands to a local pool. The pool owner had been shooing her off “for a while” apparently. This small, heat-exhausted bundle of pure joy bonded with us over water, chips and a three-hour walk (and ferry) to the local shelter. Well, obviously that was enough to steal our hearts, so when the shelter said they had no space among their 500 current rescues, I promised to adopt her with their help.

Winnie loves beaches, woodlands, grassy plains and most of all, mud (the deeper the better). She loves the staring out of the window in between snoozing on the bench in the van after a long walk (is this starting to sound like a dating profile bio?) and watching squirrels. But most of all, Winnie is weird and loves to run around growling and playing to confuse and bond with other dogs and people. She’s coming with us on all of our travels!
